AGENDA 2008: Improving the State of the Bay

Actions Watershed Communities Can Take Now to Restore Buzzards Bay

During the Fall of 2007, The Coalition for Buzzards Bay visited every Board of Selectmen in the Buzzards Bay watershed to deliver the 2007 State of the Bay Report and discuss a few key actions each town can take in the coming year to improve the State of the Bay.

Our recommendations do not aim to create a comprehensive environmental agenda for each community. Many Bay watershed towns are already and will continue to take action on other environmental and energy related projects not listed here.

The town-specific recommendations are meant to focus town actions related to reversing the decline in the State of Buzzards Bay and represent actions that can and should be undertaken this year.

We urge everyone to use this Bay restoration “short list” when participating in your local town government this year. Please ask your Selectmen, Conservation Commissioners, Planning Board members, Health Agents and other town officials what actions they are taking to restore Buzzards Bay.

CBB Director Mark Rasmussen discusses the 2007 State of the Bay Report on WCAI's "The Point." Listen Now!
