The Broad Marsh River in Wareham is part of the extensive Wareham River system. It begins at its namesake, Broad Marsh, and snakes past Wareham High School and Pinehurst Beach before emptying into the outer Wareham River at Swifts Neck. The health of the Broad Marsh River is fair, reflecting the health of most of the Wareham River system. Improvements to the Wareham River will also help conditions in the Broad Marsh River.
There are six sampling stations on the Broad Marsh River: Upper River (BMR1N), Mid-River (BMR1X), Creek Inlet (BMR3N), Lower River (BMR4N), Mouth (BMR6N), and Pinehurst Beach (BMR6X).
