The town of Dartmouth covers 62 square miles, which makes it the largest town by land area on Buzzards Bay. The entire town is located within the Buzzards Bay watershed, with Westport to the west, New Bedford to the east, and Freetown to the north. As of the 2010 Census, Dartmouth was home to 34,032 residents. Its shoreline stretches 47 miles along Buzzards Bay, Clarks Cove, and three large estuaries: the Slocums River, the Little River, and Apponagansett Bay.
