Features
With a sandy beach, picnic area, playground, basketball court, and volleyball court, Apponagansett Park offers a fun day on the water for families of all ages. The beach is situated on the calm shores of Apponagansett Bay and has lifeguards in summer, so it’s perfect for young children to play.
Right next to Apponagansett Park sits the Arthur F. Dias Town Landing, a popular public boat ramp where boaters can launch powerboats, sailboats, and rowboats. You can also launch kayaks and paddleboards from the shore at the town landing.
Want to take a hike? Carefully cross Gulf Road to check out the Knowles Reserve, a Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust (DNRT) property. There, you can go on a short walk through the woods and along a salt marsh that’s teeming with life.
Habitats & Wildlife
The shoreline at Apponagansett Bay is a mix of sandy and rocky areas. It’s a great place to bring kids for a short walk on the beach and look for rocks and shells in the sand. You might even catch a few hermit crabs scurrying along the water’s edge!
