Adventure awaits at the Onset Bay Center!
Take experiential education to the next level on and around Onset Bay with year-round, hands-on activities aligned with MA curriculum standards! Onset Bay Center is now offering field trips to all groups and schools to augment existing science, STEM, and social-emotional curriculum. Through activities like crabbing, shellfishing, sailing and paddling adventures, ecological observations and experiments, learn and discover for yourself all that Onset Bay has to offer. Spring Afterschool Clubs: Register above!
Waterfront Training Academy: Open to students ages 13-17 Tuesdays/Thursdays, April 1 – June 5, 3-5pm
Get out on the water this Spring at Onset Bay Center! This afterschool program runs 3 week sessions on Wednesdays, 3-5pm.
This program is designed for teens who would like to gain on-the-water experience in powerboating, paddling, sailing, rowing, water safety and more! This is a great opportunity to gain skills and experience for those interested in working in a waterfront role in the future! Thousands of summer camps, and sailing and community boating centers are looking to hire students with waterfriont experience. Give yourself a head start in training and certification to fill those roles!
Bay Explorers Club: Open to students ages 8-13 Tuesdays/Thursdays, April 1 – June 5
2 Sessions:
1-3pm (Great for children who are homeschooled or have alternative class schedules)
3-5pm (Great for children in traditional schools who can join us after school dismisses)
Try out all that Onset Bay Center has to offer this Spring! As we look towards warmer weather, explore with us n and around beautiful Onset Bay! Weekly activities include: paddling, canoeing, and sailing; fishing, crabbing, and shellfishing; beach exploration and play; bay ecology exploration; and MORE! Snacks provided each day! This program allows for discovery, learning, and play in an outdoor setting while promoting team work, respect, and environmental awareness and stewardship.
What to bring: Comfortable clothing to move around, considering the weather. Closed toed shoes. Warm layers to be outside each day, consider wind and temperature. Extra set of clothes and shoes. NO cotton or denim clothing- wool, fleece, or other synthetic fabrics are best. Rain boots, and rain pants and snow boots and snow pants are a must on wet days. We will out on the water, on the beach, and in the center for our programs, so please dress accordingly!
Boatbuilding Club: Ages 11-16, Mondays and Wednesdays, April 28-June 4
Under the guidance of an experienced boat builder, work alongside your peers to build your very own Wickets Skiffs, practicing engineering, teamwork, and seamanship through hands-on construction, and cast off on your creation once it’s compete! Snacks provided each day!
