To start off your new year on the right foot, the Friends of Myles Standish State Forest is offering you the choice of two hikes.

  1. An easy, relaxing 2.5-mile walk around the lovely East Head Reservoir trail. The walk generally takes about an hour. These walks will be at a moderate pace. Fast walkers can do it it half that time. (Perhaps they can go around twice.)
  2. The 3.7-mile Bentley Loop combined with the East Head Reservoir loop (a 6+ mile hike in total).

Both groups will start from the amphitheater behind the forest headquarters on Cranberry Road. Park in the main headquarters lot.

Dress warmly. If there is enough snow, snowshoes are welcome. Deer hunting season ends on December 31, so hunters should not be an issue. The restrooms at the headquarters may be open. The Friends are also hoping to have a campfire and hot cocoa to offer hikers.
