Learn to Quahog: Burgess Point
This event happened in the past.Onset, MA 02538
Join the Buzzards Bay Coalition on an adventure to Burgess Point in Onset Bay to learn to harvest your own quahogs. We’ll meet at Onset Pier and travel by boat over to Burgess Point. Coalition educators and representatives from the Town of Wareham will teach you the basics of local quahogging – what you need, how to do it, and where to go. This will be a fun and educational event for the whole family.
We will provide rakes, peck baskets, and some waders for you to use. If you have your own rake, waders, or other quahogging equipment, please feel free to bring it. We suggest you wear clothing and shoes that can get wet and sandy, as we will be wading into the water up to our waists. Additionally, unless you have a shellfish permit for the Town of Wareham, this is a catch-and-release event.
We are offering two Learn to Quahog programs at Burgess Point on July 16th: one from 11:00 am-12:30 pm and one from 1:00 pm-2:30 pm.
Register for the 11:00 am-12:30 pm session here. NOTE: This session is full.
