Saturday at the Sawmill: Forest Bathing
This event happened in the past.Acushnet, MA
Get outside and try out a mindfulness technique, known as “forest bathing”, to cleanse away the stress with nature. Bring the family to do some quiet and slow walking to notice the little things you may have never noticed before.
If you haven’t heard about forest bathing, you should know that it is a practice from Japan intended to ease worry and stress, promote relaxation and clarify your thinking. The Sawmill in Acushnet, with its red maple swamp and mixed hardwood forest, is the perfect place to engage your senses.
Slow down your thinking and your walking and tune into the sounds, sights, tastes, textures, and smells of winter. Feel free to bring a notebook and do some quiet reflection. There’s a rock in the field that is perfect for taking it all in.
The Sawmill in Acushnet is a great place for this activity. However, you also can try it closer to your home. To find places near you, visit Discover Buzzards Bay, our resource for more than 260 places around the Bay and its watershed.
Please remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing while visiting The Sawmill and other reserves and outdoor spaces.
