Summer Discovery Days
This event happened in the past.Summer Discovery Days is a program designed for kids entering grades K-5 and is free for for residents of Wareham, Rochester, Carver and Plymouth, thanks to the generosity of the Makepeace Neighborhood Fund.
Each family from the communities above also receives a complimentary Mass Audubon family membership, which provides a year of statewide benefits. Residents from other communities may join the program, as space allows for $50 per four-day session.
The program meets each morning at the Great Neck Wildlife Sanctuary or the Lyman Reserve (be sure to check location when registering) and functions as an outdoor field school, where the kids will be out exploring the trails, learning natural history and enjoying the company of new friends.
Participants must bring a light day pack that they can carry themselves, a refillable water bottle and sack lunch. Also come prepared with sunscreen and insect repellant already applied. As we are out on the trails, proper footwear (no flip-flops) and socks are a must.
Cost: Free for residents of Wareham, Carver, Rochester, and Plymouth; $50 for non-residents
