Summer Solstice Plover Stroll at Demarest Lloyd State Park

Kick off the summer season by observing and learning about nesting shorebirds at the dynamic ecosystem of Demarest Lloyd State Park. A large sand spit provides nesting habitat for plovers, least terns, and diamondback terrapins, which are all nesting at this time. Other birds such as ospreys and egrets may also be seen.
Participants should bring birding equipment (binoculars or scope, camera, bird guide), bug spray, and footwear appropriate for walking along the beach and over intertidal flats (bird guides and optics will be available in limited quantities). Inclement weather date Sunday, June 18.
Meet in the main lot of the state park, through the entrance gate.
Pre-registration required by 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20th. Limited to 20 people.

Cost: $8 Lloyd Center members, $10 nonmembers, children under 12 half-price
