Join the Wildlands Trust for Did the Holmes Dam Removal Work? River Herring Migration in Town Brook Before and After Restoration a public talk by Abigail Archer!
Join Abigail Archer, Fisheries & Aquaculture Specialist with Woods Hole Sea Grant and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, will discuss the life history of river herring, how to evaluate projects designed to make migration easier for fish, the journey river herring take in Town Brook every spring, and results of the PIT tagging program before and after the removal of the Holmes Dam.
River herring are a keystone species in our local river and oceanic ecosystems, providing food for predatory fish, birds, and mammals. Plymouth has been steadily improving the situation for river herring in Town Brook since 2002 with dam removal projects and the construction of fish ladders.
