‘Team Buzzards Bay’ raises over $32,000 for clean water at Falmouth Road Race
With 20 runners racing 7 miles at the New Balance Falmouth Road Race on August 20, Team Buzzards Bay triumphed over the crowds and heat to raise an incredible $32,000 for clean water in Buzzards Bay – demonstrating the big power that a small group has to take positive action together.
Team Buzzards Bay competed in the Falmouth Road Race through the Numbers for Nonprofits program, which provides race entries for Massachusetts-based nonprofit organizations to fundraise for their causes. With the Coalition’s 20 entries, team members raised over $32,000 for the Coalition’s efforts to protect and restore clean water in Buzzards Bay.
The top fundraiser (and a first-time runner with the team) was Weatherly Dorris, who raised $6,450 in addition to sponsoring the team through her business, Quissett Harbor Boatyard. Second place was Korrin Petersen of Middleboro, who raised $6,150, followed by Kate Frias of Westport with $1,305. (View photos on Flickr.)
