Hoppy’s Landing
Called a “fisherman’s paradise” by its namesake Robert “Hoppy” Hobson, Hoppy’s Landing on West Island in Fairhaven is a gorgeous gateway to the waters of Buzzards Bay. With its excellent access to the Bay and unique nautical décor, this public town landing draws boaters, fishermen, and paddlers to its sandy, rocky shores.

Located by the West Island causeway in Fairhaven, Hoppy’s Landing feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of life. Boaters can launch from the ramp and pier here to enjoy a day exploring Buzzards Bay. Across the street, Earl’s Marina meets boating needs including food, fuel, and repairs.
Paddlers can also launch from the small, sandy beach at Hoppy’s Landing to explore the coast of nearby West Island and Nasketucket Bay. For a true sea kayaking adventure, paddle around West Island Town Beach to West Island State Reservation on the island’s east side.
Habitats & Wildlife
Hoppy’s Landing is located on the south side of the causeway that connects West Island to the mainland in Fairhaven. Boaters and paddlers have direct access to the open waters of Buzzards Bay as well as the protected coves of Nasketucket Bay. Look for gulls, terns, and ospreys soar through the air on summer days. The nearby salt marshes provide a home for crabs and fish.
