      The Challenges

Buzzards Bay and its watershed face serious threats, including nitrogen pollution, oil spills and other forms of toxicity, increased development, and aging wastewater infrastructure. The various effects of climate change—rising sea levels, warming waters and fiercer storms—make the work harder and more important than ever.

      Our Response

Using a science-based approach, we conduct water quality and salt marsh monitoring throughout our watershed providing the most comprehensive insight into the state of our waters. We conserve and restore land to safeguard the region’s critical landscapes and waters. We also provide a range of meaningful outdoor activities at low or no cost to the public because we believe a direct connection to the Bay fosters environmental stewardship.

To nurture environmental awareness, we encourage getting outside through outdoor programming for kids and adults. We also provide a digital information kiosk for all of the region’s outdoor areas and activities for anyone who’s interested in creating their own adventures.
