"Today our troop visited the Acushnet Sawmill to learn wilderness first aid from the Buzzards Bay Coalition and the American Red Cross!
We reviewed the 10 Essentials for hiking, and were SO proud that many of the girls remembered them from our past adventures! The girls broke into teams and were given different hiking scenarios in different seasons. Each group had to decide what they would pack and explain why. They showed incredible teamwork, problem solving, and confidence thinking through real-life situations.
We also learned and practiced CPR, which is such an important life skill. The girls took it seriously, asked thoughtful questions, and stepped up in a big way.
Our Brownies officially earned their Safety Pin, recognizing their growing independence and responsibility when it comes to staying safe and helping others. Every girl also earned a First Aid fun patch, celebrating the hands-on skills they practiced and the knowledge they gained."
